So much to tell, so little time

Sorry it has been a while since the last posting. We are once again having to pay?!? for internet time, so no access to laptop and pictures right now. We are in Rome since last night (Tues) and a hard and expensive day of driving from Venice. Since the last post, we spent two nights in Garmisch on the military base there and had a nice dose of America for a bit. Thanks to Kathryn and Howard for showing us around! The Edelweiss Inn is where Nils will work if he can get hired. Unfortunately, the hiring guy was not around while we were there, but now Nils has some names to drop and knows of some actual job openings, so is pursuing the options more vigorously. It will be a nice place to visit him if he can get hired! It is beautiful, and we were mostly lucky with the weather. We drove from there to Venice - also beautiful - and as I said are now in Rome. We arrived at St. Peters just in time to catch the last of the Popes Wednesday audience, had some lunch and a crowded, quickish tour of the Vatican museums and Sistine Chapel - really beautiful!! - before arriving at the Basilica just in time for Mass at the chapel of the chair of Peter and gorgeous Holy Spirit window. Then we saw the Coliseum lit up for the evening and called it a night at the campground restaurant, with Alan even paying! What a great day!! The days are warm here but the nights are cold. How is the weather there? Two weeks left - we are starting to get homesick I think. See you all later. KAT

Bon Giorno! Eat some pasta and pizza for Ron and I. It makes me hungry just thinking about the food we had when we were in Bella Italia. I am sure that Venice was much cooler and less crowded than when we were there. I can sympathize with getting weary of traveling. Just keep on truckin and try to enjoy the last days of your grande tour. Don't forget to just stop and enjoy the view. The big news here at the library is that Robin has resigned and there is furniture being installed in the northwest room and pr and ref are getting ready to move. You won't recognize the place when you get back. Also, now that Doris is a full time cataloger we are hiring another processor. The position closes this week and we are all glad that Danielle has applied. Well, I must get back to processing. Ciao!

Long time no comment. Had a bit of an oops about 10 days ago. Tripped, fell, broke fall with face. Long story short: big, bruised chin, 5 stitches inside upper lip, various scabs, etc., etc.. Ingrid can give you full report.

I can just see you tooling around Roma on your Vespa. You are tooling around Roma on your Vespa, right?! I really envy you the trips to St. Peters, and the Sistine Chapel. It must have been awesome in so many ways. And Alan paid for dinner?!!! Now there's a miracle for you. It must be Rome.

Cousin Kerstin (me too!) sends her regards and wants a report on the latest culinary fashions in the Eternal City. Keep up the posts. We love getting them, from all of you.

Nils - fingers, toes, eyes and everything else crossed for your luck with the Edelweiss Inn.

God's Peace, Big Sis

Hey, we got your postcard from Trinity College. So Sept. 27 to Oct. 23 for travel time--not bad :). Hope you aren't too homesick...just think, you'll be missing vacation very soon. Enjoy the final days. We'll be excited to hear all about it. Maybe we'll draw you a map of how to get around the building for a welcome back present, or a guided tour (we're walking, we're walking...), or maybe we'll just save a lot of kapco :). See you soon, HAPPY TRAILS.
